The Pin-tailed Green-pigeon is distributed from the foothills of the central and eastern Himalayas to Myanmar, Thailand and Indochina. It is found on forested and wooded hillsides up to about 1,800 metres. 

The most obvious feature is the pointed central tail feathers on the grey tail. It also has a green mantle with lime-green head and rump.
