Deothang, Samdrup Jongkhar, Bhutan The Silver-eared Mesia is distributed from northern India along the Himalayas to southern China and southwards through Indochina and the Malaysian Peninsula to Sumatra. |

It is found in forest borders and scrubland often associated with bamboo and ranges mainly from 600 to 2,100
metres. It has a black head, silver ear coverts, a red wing patch with red also on the rump and undertail coverts. The bill is orange-yellow and the legs are yellow. |

It feeds on insects, fruit and seeds and outside the breeding season is often seen in small flocks. There is additional information on Avibase. |
