Silver-eared Mesia Leiothrix argentauris

The Silver-eared Mesia is distributed from northern India along the Himalayas to southern China and southwards through Indochina and the Malaysian Peninsula to Sumatra.

It is found in forest borders and scrubland often associated with bamboo and ranges mainly from 600 to 2,100 metres.

It has a black head, silver ear coverts, a red wing patch with red also on the rump and undertail coverts. The bill is orange-yellow and the legs are yellow.

It feeds on insects, fruit and seeds and outside the breeding season is often seen in small flocks.
