The Rufous-winged Fulvetta is distributed in the eastern Himalayas, north-eastern India, southern China, Indochina, Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in the understorey of broad-leaved forest and at forest edges at between 500 and 3200 metres.
