The Nepal House Martin is distributed in the Himalayas from Nepal  to western Myanmar and in south China and western Indochina.

Nepal House Martin, Mo Chu River, Punakha, Bhutan, March 2008 - click for larger image It is found in valleys and mountain ridges at up to about 4,000 metres but migrates to lower altitudes during the winter.

It is glossy blue-black on the crown back, side of the head and upper throat. The under tail coverts are also dark but the rest of the underparts are white. The tail is square.
