The Long-tailed Sibia is distributed from Nepal to south China and south through Indochina and Malaysia to Sumatra. It is found in forest and secondary growth at between 400 and 1,600 metres.

It is a large grey babbler with a very long tail which has white tips. The wings have a white panel and the bill is fairly long and slightly downturned.
