The Lesser Racket-tailed Drongo is distributed from the Himalayas to south China and Indochina and south to the Malay Peninsula. It is found in dense, broadleaved forest at between 200 and 2,500 metres.

It is a shiny blue-black with a square-ended tail with 2 rackets though in the case of this individual one of the rackets is missing.
