Lalibela, Ethiopia The White-fronted Black-chat is distributed in a broad band south of the Sahara from Senegal to South Sudan and Uganda with disjunct populations in Ethiopia and Eritrea. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in wooded savanna, open bush and semi-arid areas with rocks. In Ethiopia it is found at between 1,050 and 1,900 metres. |

The male has white on the forehead and white on the underwings seen only in flight. The amount of white on the forehead varies between sub-species. These photos are of the nominate sub-species often called the Ethiopian White-fronted Black-chat. | |||
