The White-cheeked Turaco is distributed in Ethiopia, South Sudan and Eritrea. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in forest and woodland, particularly Podocarpus and Juniper, from 900 to 3,600 metres where it feeds largely on the fruits of these two trees.

It is distinguished by its rounded crest and the small white patch in front of the eye and the larger one on the side of the neck.

Its voice is a growling call.
