Perinet (Analamazaotra), Madagascar The Short-legged Ground-roller is endemic to Madagascar where it is found in undisturbed, damp, primary forest up to about 1,500 metres. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. |

It is classified as Vulnerable given a combination of habitat loss and global
warming.
Ground-roller is a bit of a misnomer as it is the most arboreal of the family spending much of its time in the trees. We had the feeling that the pair in photo 1 might have had a nest in the epiphyte on the left. |
