Praso River, Ghana The Rock Pratincole is distributed in large parts of tropical Africa with the exception of the east of the continent. It is found on exposed rocks in large rivers and streams. |

There are two sub-species. The nominate race has a white collar across the nape and is found from Chad to Uganda and south to Namibia and Mozambique. The sub-species G. n. liberiae is distributed from Sierra Leone to Cameroon and has a chestnut collar on the nape. | |||
