The Lazy Cisticola is distributed in Africa south of the Sahara. The distribution is spotty and is determined by the habitat requirements, namely rocky outcrops and boulders in savanna country. For a distribution map see Birdlife International.

Rock-loving Cisticola, Tonga Hills, Ghana, June 2011 - click for larger image The forehead, crown and nape are rufous while the sides of the head are greyish with a rufous tinge. The legs are brownish pink.

It runs mouse-like across the rocks while it hunts for insects and beetles.

A common vocalisation is a series of squeaky notes described as resembling squeezing a rubber toy interspersed with clicking and sucking notes.
