Kakum, Ghana The Red-tailed Greenbul is distributed in tropical Africa from Senegal to Uganda and south to Angola. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in the middle and lower levels of forest in pairs, small parties or as part of a mixed-species flock. They feed on beetles, insects, spiders, small lizards, berries and seeds. The white beard contrasts with the grey head and the yellow of the breast and belly. You will note that the tail is not red. The sub-species found from Senegal to south-west Nigeria is C. c. verreauxi and this particular sub-species has a tail the same colour as the back. |
