Ghana and Ethiopia

The African Malachite Kingfisher is distributed throughout most of Africa south of the Sahara. It is found on lakes, pools, marshes and slow-moving rivers.

It dives for small fish, shrimps and insects from a low perch over water.

In flight it makes a shrill pseek.
