The Long-billed Tetraka is endemic to Madagascar where it is found in forest up to about 1,300 metres. In the west it is in primary evergreen forest while in the east it is in dry deciduous forest. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Long-billed Bernieria, Zombitse-Vohibasia NP, Madagascar, November 2016 - click for larger image It is often found as part of a mixed species flock as it hunts for insects, spiders and small vertebrates such as geckos. It can be seen climbing tree trunks and branches as it searches for prey.
