The Long-billed Sunbird is endemic to Madagascar where it is found in a variety of forest habitats mainly below about 2,000 metres. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Long-billed Sunbird, Analamazaotra (Perinet) , Madagascar, November 2016 - click for larger image It is a large sunbird with metallic blue-green head, throat and back and blackish wings, belly and tail. The female is grey-brown above with a pale supercilium and darker streaks on yellowish underparts. The non-breeding male is similar to the female.
