The Kenya White-eye is distributed in East Africa from southern Ethiopia and Somalia through Kenya to Tanzania. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

The HBW and Birdlife International Illustrated Checklist has split this species from Abyssinian White-eye Z. abyssinicus because of genetic diferences and features such as the yellow underparts.
