The Grey-headed Nigrita is distributed in tropical Africa from Sierra Leone to western Kenya. It is found in forest and at forest edges usually in the canopy where it feeds on insects, fruits and seeds.

It is grey above with black below and on the face and forehead. The wing coverts have small white dots.

Its song is a short series of rather plaintive whistles.
