The Green-headed Sunbird is distributed in tropical Africa from Senegal to Malawi. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in wooded savanna, rainforest, forest clearings and gardens where it feeds on nectar, small seeds and insects.

This photo shows a male with glossy blue-green head and throat, olive-green upperparts and grey underparts. The female is similar but her entire underparts are grey.
