Ethiopia The Great White Pelican breeds discontinuously from south-east Europe to Kazakhstan. These populations winter in Africa south of the Sahara and in the Indian subcontinent. There are also scattered populations in Africa which are resident. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. |

It is a very large black and white pelican with a yellow bill pouch. In flight, the black flight feathers contrast with the white wing coverts. | |||
