The Bristle-crowned Starling is distributed in Somalia, central Ethiopia and northern Kenya where it is found in semi-arid and rocky country up to 1,700 metres. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Bristle-crowned Starling, Sof Omar, Ethiopia, January 2016 - click for larger image It is a large starling with a very long tail and a cushion of spiky feathers on its forecrown. It feeds mainly on fruit such as those of the Salvadora or Mustard Bush.
