Ghana The Black Spinetail is distributed in apparently disjunct areas in tropical Africa from Sierra Leone in the west to north-east Zaire and north-east Angola. It is found over rainforest, plantations and rocky areas. |

It has a prominent tail which is square when closed and rounded when spread during soaring. It is generally dark black-brown but there is contrast on the underwings and paler mottling on the throat. | ||||
