The Banded Demoiselle is found in England and Wales mainly south of a line from Blackpool to the Wash. Its normal habitat is slow-moving streams, rivers and canals with muddy bottoms and adjoining meadows. The male in these photos was photographed in my garden which is about 200 metres from the nearest stream. They are in flight from June to August.
