Yellowish Pipit is distributed in the lowland grasslands of South America from Colombia and Venezuela to northern Argentina but is absent from most of the Amazonian Basin. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is the only pipit in most of its range.

It is small and buffy yellowish below but can be whiter in worn plumage. It has dark streaking on the chest.
