The Yellow-bellied Dacnis is found in the Amazon Basin, usually in the canopy and often beside rivers. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. Its behaviour is very like that of the Blue Dacnis.

The male is distinctive with yellow on the belly and a red eye. The head is black with dull green on the crown and nape.
