The White-bellied Spinetail is found only on river islands in the Amazon river system. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. Here it prefers the early succession growth of cane, low bushes and tangles.

White-bellied Spinetail, Marchantaria Island, Amazonas, Brazil, July 2001 - click for a larger image It is browny-grey above with rufous wings and tail. The chin is light grey and there is a black patch on the lower throat. The breast is grey becoming white in the centre.

It has a proportionately longer bill than most of the Synallaxis spinetails and a very pointed tail which you should be able to see in the third photo.
