The White-bellied Spinetail is found only on river islands in the Amazon river system. Here it prefers the early succession growth of cane, low bushes and tangles.

White-bellied Spinetail, Marchantaria Island, Amazonas, Brazil, July 2001 - click for a larger image It is browny-grey above with rufous wings and tail. The chin is light grey and there is a black patch on the lower throat. The breast is grey becoming white in the centre.

It has a proportionately longer bill than most Synallaxis spinetails and a very pointed tail which you should be able to see in the third photo.
