The Streak-capped Antwren is distributed in the Atlantic Forest of south-east Brazil and adjacent areas of Paraguay and Argentina. See the distribution map at xeno-canto.

It is often seen in pairs foraging for insects in the canopy and mid-storey which is why it can be difficult to see the streaks on its cap and its tawny mantle.
