San Martin, Peru October 2018 The Silver-backed Tanager is distributed in the extreme south of Ecuador and in Peru mainly on the east slope of the Andes but also in the dry north-west. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found both in the borders of humid forest and in semi-arid scrub. |

These photos are of males. Females are quite distinct being mostly pale green with a coppery wash to the head and a whitish belly. | |||
