The Rufous-rumped Seedeater is distributed patchily in south-west Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina and, probably, Paraguay. See the distribution map at xeno-canto. It is usually in mixed seedeater flocks and this bird was in tall grass beside a roadside marsh.
