Lauca National Park, Chile February 2007 The Puna Miner is distributed in the altiplano region of southern Peru, western Bolivia, northern Chile and north-west Argentina. It is found mainly between 3,200m and 4,600m on puna grassland and sandy areas beside bofedal marsh. This bird was at about 4,400m. |

It is a smallish miner with a slender, almost straight bill. It is similar to the local sub-species of Common Miner Geositta cunicularia titicacae but has whiter underparts with no streaking on the breast, is smaller and has a duller face pattern. | |||
