The Northern Mealy Parrot is distributed in Central America from south-east Mexico to western Panama. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. This was split from Southern Mealy Amazon A. farinosa by the HBW and Birdlife International Checklist but many authorities still lump the two together as A. farinosa.

The bases for the split are the blue crown, the yellow rather than red at the edge of the wing, the blackish rather than paler bill, etc..

As can be seen here, the nest is a hole in a tree.
