The Least Sandpiper breeds in the subarctic tundra and boreal forest of North America and migrates on a broad front through Canada to overwinter in the southern United States and northern South America. See the distribution map at Birdlife International.

Least Sandpiper, San Jose, Lambayeque, Peru, October 2018 - click for larger image As its name implies it is a very small sandpiper with a slightly drooping black bill and dull, yellowish legs (which can appear darker when wading in mud). It is also never so grey as its congeners.
