The Grey-hooded Bush Tanager is distributed in the Andes from western Venezuela through Colombia, Ecuador and Peru to the extreme west of Bolivia. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in the canopy and borders of forest and woodland on the eastern slopes at between 2,200 and 3,000 metres.

Although this photo is distant and poor it shows the distinctive pinkish bill and legs as well as the grey head, throat and breast. It also wags its tail most of the time.
