The Grey-capped Tyrannulet is a Brazilian endemic found in south-east Brazil from Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais to Santa Catarina. It is classified as Near Threatened because of the loss of habitat.

The head, crown and nape are grey, the back is bright olive, the wing feathers are edged yellow while the underparts are grey to white with yellow on the flanks.
