The Grass-green Tanager is distributed in the Andes from Colombia through Ecuador and Peru to Bolivia. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in humid, evergreen forest and forest edges at between 1,500 and 3,350 metres. Often associated with bamboo.
