The Golden-crowned Warbler is distributed in Brazil and Bolivia south of the Amazon Basin and into adjacent areas of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay with disjunct populations in Colombia, Venezuela, Central America and Mexico. |

| It is found low down in
forest, woodland and shrubby edges where it is often seen
flicking its wing and cocking its tail. The orange-rufous crown can be hard to see. It is bordered by black stripes and a whitish superciliary. Underparts are yellow though some sub-species have white undertail coverts. |
