| Crested Bobwhite (Colinus cristatus) |
||||
| Roraima, Brazil July 2001 The Crested Bobwhite is a member of the New World Quail family and is found from Panama to the Guianas, in Colombia, Venezuela and the north of Brazil. It is an open country bird of savanna, woodland edges and roadsides but its distinctive trisyllabic call is probably heard more often than it is seen. |

| They are terrestrial and shy but, when disturbed, will fly off a short distance. Usually in pairs or small groups or coveys, they feed mostly on seeds. There is an illustration in HBW, Volume 2, Pages 416 and 426. |
