It is found in the dense undergrowth of the tropical rainforest especially in seasonally flooded forest or varzéa. |

It is variable in plumage but generally plain greyish or brownish with a coppery tone to the head and
neck.
Its song is a sharp whistle lasting about a second and repeated every 5 seconds sometimes for minutes on end. It can sound a bit mournful. |
