The Bran-coloured Flycatcher is distributed from Costa Rica through Panama and into most of South America down to northern Argentina but it is missing from a large part of central Amazonia.

Bran-coloured Flycatcher, Camacã, Bahia, Brazil, March 2004 - click for larger image It is found mostly in open areas such as shrubby clearings as well as in open woodland and on forest edges.

It is reddish brown above with dark brown wings and two prominent buffy wing-bars. Underparts are dirty white with indistinct brown streaks. This particular individual is looking a bit scruffy possibly because of moult.
