The White-throated Piping Guan is distributed in the south-west of the Amazon Basin in north-east Bolivia and the Pantanal. It is found in forest and cerrado woodland.

The white crest reaching further down the nape and the more prominent white wing patch distinguishes it from the Blue-throated Piping-guan P. cumanensis.

It feeds on fruits and flowers and is rarely seen on the ground.
