The Black-throated Green Warbler breeds in Canada and north-eastern USA and winters from Texas south through Central America to northern South America as well as in the West Indies. See the distribution map at Birdlife International. It is found in mainly coniferous forest as well as in gardens.

Male Black-throated Green Warbler, La Güira, Cuba, February 2005 - click for larger image The male, seen here in photos 1 and 2, has a yellow face with olive-yellow crown and olive-green back. The wings are black with white edges and two white wing-bars. The chin, throat and upper breast are black while the remaining underparts are white with black streaks on the flanks. The female in photo 3 is duller with a yellow chin and throat.
