| Queensland, Australia November 2010 The Spectacled Monarch is distributed in eastern Australia from Cape York to New South Wales and in New Guinea and some nearby islands. It is partly migratory in Australia but the migratory movements are not well known (HBW). |

| The subspecies vary according
to the amount of white on the tail and the colour of the
upperwing coverts. The sub-species shown here is M. t.
melanorrhoa which has blackish uppertail coverts and deeper
grey upperparts.
