Australia The Royal Spoonbill is distributed in Australia, New Zealand and southern New Guinea. It is found in shallow freshwater wetlands as well as sheltered salt water lagoons. |

They often feed at night so can be seen, as in photo 2, resting during the day with their black bills tucked
along their backs.
