The Rhinoceros Auklet is distributed from Japan and eastern China through the Aleutians to southern Alaska and south to California. It breeds on grassy slopes often on small islands free of predators where it builds its nest at the end of an underground burrow.

Its most noticeable feature is the yellowish-orange bill with a vertical white knob or horn at the base of the upper mandible.

There is a map showing the distribution in North America at NatureServe  and there is additional information available at Avibase.
