The Bald Eagle is distributed throughout most of North America. It breeds near water and prefers areas where there are large trees near the water to provide nesting sites and perches.

It feeds on fish both dead and alive and also feeds on birds, mammals, reptiles, carrion and human rubbish. The bird in photo 1 is feeding on the carcass of a Trumpeter Swan Cygnus buccinator

It is a large fish-eater with a dark brown body with white head and tail. It takes about 5 years to reach adult plumage. The juvenile is all brown and the birds in photos 3 and 4 are probably about 4 years old.

The call is a fast series of yelps which sound curiously weak for such a powerful bird.
