Red-wattled Lapwing is distributed from south-east Turkey through the Middle east to the Indian sub-continent and south-east Asia. It is found in open areas such as agricultural fields close to fresh or brackish water.

It is a large plover with a red bill, eye-ring and wattles, black on the head and the centre of the chest and long yellow legs that extend beyond the tail in flight.
