Al Ain, Abu Dhabi The Lappet-faced Vulture is distributed throughout most of Africa south of the Sahara and in the Arabian Peninsula. They are rarely seen in Abu Dhabi and this bird was seen from Jebel Hafit before it flew off in the direction of Oman. They are found in steppe and desert habitats and they require trees on which to build their large nest consisting of a platform of sticks. |

It is a huge raptor and in flight the long broad wings have almost parallel edges while the trailing edge has pointed tips making it look saw-toothed. The tail is rather short and wedge shaped. | |||
