Coatis are members of the racoon family and the White-nosed Coati is distributed from the south-west USA through Mexico and Central America to Panama and northern Colombia. It is found in rainforest and a variety of wooded habitats but sometimes can be found in drier areas.

They are highly social animals usually found in groups with a dominant male, several females and lots of offspring. Mostly diurnal, they are omnivorous eating mainly invertebrates and fruit.
