The Gerenuk is distributed in the Horn of Africa and south into northern Tanzania. See the distribution map at IUCN. It is found in arid thorn bush especially Acacia.

Gerenuk, Bilen, Ethiopia, January 2016 - click for larger image This elegant antelope has an extremely long neck which, combined with its long legs and ability to stand on its back legs, allows it to browse with its long tongue for foliage at up to 2 metres off the ground.

The male in photo 2 has lyre-shaped horns which are lacking in the females.
