The Asian Black Bear is distributed in southern Asia, China and Japan. It was previously found as far west as France and Germany and is the typical dancing bear of the Middle Ages.

They are active during the day and are small enough and light enough to climb trees. They are omnivorous and feed on a wide variety of plants, insects, grubs, etc.. They can be aggressive towards humans.
