The Rufous-breasted Accentor is distributed from eastern Afghanistan through the Himalayas to central China. In the Himalayas it is an altitudinal migrant spending the summer in alpine scrub at up to 4,400 metres and the winter in bushes and near cultivation at down to 1,400 metres.

It is heavily streaked with a rufous band across the breast and a white and rufous supercilium above blackish ear-coverts.

There are recordings on xeno-canto and additional information is available via Avibase.
